Planning to Travel to Egypt?

Like millions of other world travelers, anyone planning to travel to Egypt will have a great deal to do before they even set out on their journey. First they must be certain to have the proper documentation and clearance to ensure easy entry across its borders or through its airports. Most visitors can simply submit visa applications when arriving, but there are some groups that are required to do more, and it is a good choice to investigate this issue long before departure.Travel to Egypt can take many forms; it can be a journey through the ancient Pharaonic past or a relaxing cruise up or down the Nile. A trip to Egypt can have the beautiful Gulf of Suez or Aqaba as its destination, where white sand beaches and pristine waters await. Travel to Egypt can also be directed towards the religious history of the Sinai Peninsula where some of the world's oldest original monasteries still stand, and still serve as houses of worship. There are even those who travel to Egypt to witness for themselves the baking sands of the western deserts and the beauty of the many large oases they contain.Planning a single destination or itinerary for travel to Egypt is unnecessary as the ease of transportation around the country allows a variety of sightseeing and destinations to be included in anyone's arrangements. For example, many full-time residents in Cairo make the coastal town of Hurghada their chosen location for rest and relaxation. Because of this there are frequent flights in and out of the area, and a visitor to the city could easily spend a weekend along the beautiful "Red Sea Riviera" as part of their trip. There are dozens of travel and tour companies and thousands of accommodations providers making travel to Egypt affordable and easy for almost any budget. It is simply a matter of deciding which locations and areas to visit, and what to during a stay. The most common reasons that tourists travel to Egypt are the historical sites, including the Pyramids of Giza, the Luxor temple complex, the cities of Cairo and Alexandria and even far-reaching areas such as Abu Simbel or Aswan. Additionally, many take advantage of the Sinai Peninsula and eastern shore's wonderful water activities and luxurious resorts. In fact, this entire region is becoming such a "hot spot" that development is taking place at an advanced rate, making more hotels and resorts available each year. There are many other reasons people travel to Egypt, and it only continues to grow in popularity as the years pass!

Egypt is one of the most modern nations in the Middle East, but also offers access to a wealth of human history and culture. Egypt Travel Guide brings Egypt to you as well as travel to Egypt information and Egypt Tours.

The Bahamas: A Pirate Fan's Perfect Travel Destination

The Bahamas is a magical string of 700 islands in the middle of the Caribbean that has been a popular tourist destination for decades, says AMT American Express Travel. The Bahamas is a world-renowned travel destination with a rich history. In 1492, Christopher Columbus made his first landfall on the island of San Salvador in the eastern Bahamas. Columbus commented on the shallow water of the sea surrounding the islands, calling the water "baja mar". It is from these words that the name "Bahama" came. Since the Bahamas islands are located close to Florida they caught the attention of explorers, settlers, invaders and traders. Pirate History in the BahamasOne of the most interesting things about the Bahamas is its history with pirates. Black Beard, Calico Jack and Captain Henry Morgan himself were known visitors to the Bahamian islands. 1680 to 1730 was the golden age for Bahamian pirates. These islands made an ideal home base for pirates because of the numerous islands and islets. These were great places to hide their renegade ships and stolen treasure. The islands were also close to well-traveled trading routes, creating the perfect opportunity to plunder merchant ships. The battles fought between pirates, merchants and other authorities often caused may casualties, especially ships. These ships often sank off the coast of the Bahamas, laden with gold, silver, and other antiquities. Spanish galleons were easy prey for pirates. These ships carried stolen riches from the native peoples of South and Central America. Pirates would hide this treasure in the numerous limestone caves dotting the Bahamas or bury it somewhere on the miles of beaches. Rumors of treasure still hidden in the Bahamas exist today. Pirate William Catt is supposed to have buried loot on his namesake, Cat Island. Sir Henry Morgan, who preferred the island of Andros, is said to have buried treasure throughout the many islands. Where rumors may be false, the Bahamas certainly offers a mystique that encourages its visitors to indulge in opportunities for adventure and seclusion. American Express Vacations is beginning to offer special tours for travelers interested in highlighting famous pirate sites all over the islands of the Bahamas.Modern Day Fun, Rest and RelaxationThe Bahamas of today is still full of adventure and excitement. The islands of the Bahamas are some of the most popular locations for travelers in the world. A big draw to most Caribbean tourists, the Bahamas cater to travelers on a moderate to high-end budget. American Express Travel offers a number of moderate and high-end accommodations that give the best value for your money. There are no accommodations such as hostels because the focus of the island is a luxury experience. But travel to the Bahamas is on most world traveler's to see list.

Top Ten Travel Nursing "Hot Spots"

The great thing about being a traveling nurse boils down to one key component - it's about the travel! For those of us who love moving around and seeing the world, travel nursing is the profession of our dreams. There are many travel destinations available, based on weather, activities, cost of living, and salary. Therefore, I have gathered a list of my "Top Ten" destinations that nurses choose, based on the number of travelers who inquire about each location every month. Are you a travel RN scouting a new assignment? Then I'd like to suggest the following ten "Hot Spots":HAWAII - It's no shock that Hawaii generates over 500 travel nursing inquiries per month. The wide range of outdoor activities from snow-capped mountains to snow-white sandy beaches elevates Hawaii to one of those meccas where you can build a snowman or a sand castle all in one day. Nurses tell me that you'll discover virtually every type of outdoor activity imaginablehiking trails that wind through erupting volcanoes, secret beaches, and lush green ranchlands. Many travelers also hunt, mountain bike, go rafting, and golf on some of the world's most extravagant courses.ALASKA - Travel nurses are intrigued by the possibilities of Alaska's rugged mystery. Alaska is a huge wilderness with beautiful scenery, and travel nursing assignments offer plenty of time to see and do everything you want, whether in winter's darkness under northern lights, or the glorious spring and summer where it's light most of the time. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy Alaska for its' wildlife, spectacular natural landscape, and fishing expeditions where the fish really are as big as the stories about which they're told. Countless day cruises and sightseeing expeditions abound, as well as opportunities to hike, kayak, canoe, ski Need we say more?MONTANA - Whether photographer, adventurer, or both, Montana is truly a state that beckons with open arms. River trips, fishing and camping, history, snowy mountain ranges, and waterfalls are what you'll encounter, along with plenty of open space to explore. Assignments in Montana appeal to those travel nurses who just need some time to break away from their city grind to enjoy marching to the beat of an entirely different drummer. The Big Sky Country boasts some of America's most famous mountains, canyons, river valleys, forests, grassy plains, badlands, and caverns, and many travelers find it just irresistible enough to keep coming back.MAINE - Maine's splendor has inspired artists like Georgia O'Keefe and three generations of the Wyeth family, since the mid-nineteenth century. Travel nurses can't resist at least one adventure in this charming getaway. Whether you embark on outdoor adventures like skiing and snowmobiling, or if you prefer the cozy ambience of antiquing through charming villages or just strolling or riding horseback on miles of sandy beaches in the smell of salt air, Maine is legendary and offers some wonderful travel nursing experiences. Its' unique culture is outdoorsy and quaint, and of course you get to enjoy lobster as the locals dofresh from the ocean! CALIFORNIA - Warm weather and world-famous beaches make California a favorite choice for traveling nurses. Nine-hundred miles of coastline gives nurses in all locations the chance to spend many hours near the waves; and for nature lovers, California is home to many wildlife parks, remote wilderness areas, and safe-havens for endangered animals. If you're an excitement junkie, you can scout out a wide selection of theme parks; and no matter what your taste in music, concerts abound in every type of venue. Historic sites and museums invite, as do five-star restaurants and clubs in which to see and be seen. The shopping is unparalleled, whether it's trendy Melrose Place, La Jolla, or the strand in Venice Beach; and of course it's home to Hollywood, and, yes, movie stars. Whether northern, southern, or coastal locations, traveling nurses return to California time and again.WASHINGTON - The Evergreen State boasts the gorgeous Pacific Ocean, the Cascade Mountains, desert experiences, rain forests, towering volcanoes, glaciers, and lush wine country. Washington State rates high on the list of many nurse travelers. Must-sees are the Space Needle and Coulee Dam. The culture here is incredibly diverse; sophisticated, outdoorsy, and loaded with resorts, history, parks, museums, and botanical gardens. Whether touring downtown Seattle for cozy antique and book stores, exploring ancient Indian grounds, or hiking and biking mountains or trails, Washington holds a strong allure for many nurse travelers.SOUTH CAROLINA - Endless adventure, excitement, fun and exploration represent why South Carolina is always a favorite destination for travel nurses. America's oldest landscaped gardens frame mansions rife with historical heritage, in addition to pristine beaches and legendary marshy wetlands. For all you golfers, with over 330 golf courses, there's always a new place to swing your clubs. But what fascinates many traveling nurses is the rich heritage in which South Carolina has paved the roads of culture, art, and folklore in our past. You can visit several historical areas and discovery centers of American history, including the American Revolution and the Civil War.COLORADO - World-class winter skiing and summer music festivals in the mountains are just two reasons that nurses love traveling to Colorado. Boasting four spectacular seasons, Colorado is where travel nurses get to explore the state's 18 million acres of state and national parks, forests, and monuments for biking, hiking, fishing, mountain climbing, and kayaking, to name a few. Colorado has many cultural treasures, including ancient Native American sites and dinosaur fossil exhibits, historic ghost towns, and even award-winning vineyards in Grand Junction. Attractions in Tennessee include the Jack Daniels' distillery, Elvis's Graceland, the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, and lots of southern hospitality. And don't forget the crown jewel of the southern Appalachians, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.ARIZONA - If you adore the outdoors, then the Grand Canyon State might just be for you. Business, Networking, Global Resorts Network (grn) And Travel All Tied Together

You never know when you are going to lose your job, or have to find another way to make more income. Making money is not about sales, brains, or having money to make money. It is about Networking with people and building a web. As Zig Ziglar said, youcan have everything in life you want, if you help enough other peopleget what they want. Think about it for a second, what if you helped ten people reach their goals? Do you think they would remember you? Of course they would! They are not going to remember the company or the product, they are going to remember the person who made some of their dreams come true. They will return the favor one day with out a doubt. Global Resorts Network (GRN) is a proven fact of this. When you help other people, you can count on you web growing. And when you teach the people how to help and mentor other people that are in need, guess what, you will gain from that. Not only mentally and emotionally, but financially as well. It is a numbers game to a certain point, but only to a point. People do not buy the company or the product in Network marketing, they buy people. They buy into what you as a person can offer them in support and tem work.Traveling is one of the most sought after forms of relaxation more than anything. People love to travel to very high end resorts as well. It is as if they spend the money on vacation to feel like royalty for a week. Some people golf, others build cars, some buy extravagant toys, and then there are those of us that travel. Global Resorts Network (GRN) knows that people love to travel and they know how expensive it is. I feel bad for the people who got involved in a twenty, thirty, fifty thousand or more timeshare. If they would only have known the secret that Brent at LifetimeResort.com and so many others do. When we talk with timeshare owners, they are sick and tired of all the fees and payments that come with the timeshare, and also the fact that they only get one week out of the whole deal. And you have got to just hate the high pressure selling of these free dinners or free sunset cruises you get. These are some of the best salesman in the world, and unfortunately, you are falling into their trap if you want to go get a free dinner, Free is a funny word here, I would argue that after they sell you on a timeshare, you just paid $20,000 for the meal you just ate. But that is my opinion, and LifetimeResort.com is in agrees as well. Global Resorts Network (GRN) is not in the business of asking people for double digit sums of money. They want to actually help people build a dream. People helping People, that is what it really boils down to, really go do your research for your self. And I dare you to ask questions and lots of them to. Try to find the scam, try to find the catch.you will not. All contact info is in the resource box.don't be shy

Booking a Cruise - Don't Overlook These Tips

Whether you have been on dozens of cruises, or this is your first one, you always can learn more about how to make your cruise experience fabulous! If you are still deciding whether or not to try a cruise, remember, if you watch for great deals your entire cruise can cost less than staying in a hotel for three days.Whether you care to save a few dollars or not (because only travel agents get the truly great rates), here are some ideas that are often overlooked to help you book your new venture. When should you book a cruise? During the off-season if you can. If you live anywhere in the north where you get to experience cold, long winters, winter time is when you should go. Not only do you get a break from your cold country, you generally get good fares. The general population take their vacations in the summer months (May-September), even though some of the summer locations they visit are blisteringly hot. Generally speaking, cruises are discounted in winter times, depending upon location. Avoid the over popular locations, such as the Caribbean, since winter (Nov-March) is their most pleasant time to visit. (Sweating constantly, especially in the dead of night, is an uncomfortable thing to experience!)If you are booking a short cruise (3-7 days; recommended for first time cruisers), book about 3 months in advance. If you are going longer (7-21 days), book 5 months in advance. If you have ample time, money, and freedom and are going on a world cruise (usually over 100 days) you need to book 1 year in advance, as those tours occur less frequently than your short excursions and, surprisingly, fill quickly. To save money, book your flight and cruise together. If you booked a flight outside of your cruise package, be sure to allow extra time to get to your ship because they are not obligated to wait for you if your flight is delayed. If you find you missed the ship, it is possible to fly to their next port of entry and join your cruise at that location. That is a headache and a stress to arrange, so just get there in time. If you are embarking on a cruise overseas, arrive 1-2 days early so you definitely won't miss your cruise, also giving you an opportunity to get rested and adjusted to the time and climate change. If you are concerned about what your room is like, be sure to ask so that your fabulous view from your window isn't obscured by people on the promenade or by a lifeboat. Most cruise ships have websites where you can research the layout and class of your room.Be sure to ask everything that is included in the price of your cruise: tips, drinks (usually refers to water and maybe juice), taxes and fees, are usually included; shore excursions, spa treatments, massages, alcoholic drinks and soda pop are usually extra. There is one last note. If you think you might be prone to motion sickness, be sure to get a prescription or medication to combat this unpleasant, and often times, debilitating sensation. Cruise ships have a medical doctor on board, but their charge is usually extra and may not be covered by your health insurance. If you have medical conditions, be prepared ahead of time by knowing what your insurance covers so you know whether or not to pull out extra insurance for your voyage.

If you don't think you can afford a cruise, expand your limited mindset. There are ways to make travel more affordable, visit http://www.TravelTopside.com to learn more.

For twenty-five years the Queen Elizabeth 2 has been circling the globe, nobody knows their way around the world like she does. 2007 is her Silver Jubilee and she'll be visiting more of the world than ever on her Silver Jubilee World Cruise; 41 great cities and 25 nations on five continents in 108 days. She's became the international symbol of luxury travel and at virtually every stop along her way, she'll be welcomed with all the fanfare of a celebrity. The full 108-day cruise will start from New York City on Jan 8 2007, returning to New York on April 22. Two alternatives are available for those on the West Coast of the USA. One leaving Los Angeles and ending in New York City in 94 days; the other leaving San Francisco ending in New York in 92 days. Whether you book the full 108 day cruise or merely a portion, you'll have chance to see the major highlights along the way, with multi-day tours to such sights as Beijing and the Great Wall of China. And you'll be sure to enjoy the days you spend on board, as the QE2 is practically a "City at Sea" with all the amenities you could need for an extended voyage. The Queen Elizabeth 2 will sail from New York City to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and two days later will call in at Georgetown, Grand Cayman. Then it's on to Puerto Moin, Costa Rica with a side trip available to visit the Braulio Carillo National Park. Here there's an aerial tram that glides silently and easily above the jungle canopy - there's no hiking required!Next is the passage through the Panama Canal and north to Acapulco, then on to Los Angeles and San Francisco to take on those who will be joining the cruise from these ports. Four days later, you are in Honolulu, Hawaii. The next day a tour of the Haleakala Crater on Maui, followed by four days at sea crossing the South Pacific to Papeete in Tahiti and later Moorea. On to Suva in Fiji, where passengers will have the opportunity to sample the ceremonial drink kava, made from the root of the pepper tree.Next on the cruise is New Zealand with visits to the ports of Auckland, Wellington and lastly the picturesque town of Christchurch, a nostalgic recreation of an English college town on the South Island with ivy-covered brick homes, manicured gardens and even a river Avon. From New Zealand she turns North to Hobart, Tasmania with a side trip to the Bonorong Wildlife Park, where one might catch a glimpse of the rare Tasmanian Devil.Melbourne is the first of four ports of call in Australia. One of the side trips here will be a ride on the historic steam train "Puffing Billy", finishing with a lunch at a Yarra Glen vineyard. Next up is Sydney with its famous Opera House. After a brief stop in Brisbane there will be a two-day respite at the seaside resort of Yorkey's Knob outside Cairns. You might even learn how to throw a boomerang at the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park.Leaving Australia the next port of call is Rabaul in Papua New Guinea and then five days at sea before docking at Yokohama, Japan. In Japan's second city you'll have the opportunity to tour the old Imperial Palace, home of the ruling dynasty for 140 years. Here the passengers will be given the option of excursions inland to Beijing's Forbidden City, the Great Wall and the 400-year-old Wu Gardens. After two days in Hong Kong, the beautiful and peaceful beaches of Da Nang will be a welcome change in Vietnam. After a two day visit to Laem Chabang (Bangkok), Thailand, the QE2 will cruise for two days to Singapore and then across the Indian Ocean to Colombo in Sri Lanka, the former Ceylon. A short tour of Kandy is on the menu here. Here also is the beginning of an optional multi-day adventure to Jaipur and the Taj Mahal before rejoining the QE2 in Mumbai. Those who elect to stay with the ship will be visiting Cochin, India next. Once a major stop on the Spice Route, this old port city predates Roman times. One can walk along streets lined with 15th century Portuguese house and step into an ancient synagogue; the local Jewish community dates back over 2000 years.Next port is Mumbai, formerly called Bombay. Here one can take a tour of Bollywood, the center of the Indian film industry. After the passengers who left the ship in Columbo come aboard again, the ship is off to Port Victoria in the Seychelles followed by Port Louis in Mauritius. A one day stop in Durban, South Africa, will be followed by two days in Cape Town, South Africa's capital at the foot of Table Mountain. Here a tour is available of the countryside of Stellenbosch with its famous vineyards, Dutch gabled houses and an old fashioned trading post. From here the QE2 will steer north as it cruises to Walvis Bay, Namibia. Alaska Cruise Or Florida Vacation Too Expensive?

How often have you heard something like this? "Sure, we would love to travel, but we don't have the time or the money to travel now. We'll do that later, when the kids are raised or when Dad retires." Suddenly the kids have flown the nest and we look back with some misgivings. Should we have taken more time with the kids and done something really special as a family? Did we miss out on something genuinely valuable? Will we be able now to personally enjoy travel? Here are some common reasons why many of us miss the value and joys of travel.1. We sometimes postpone our own recreational travel because we feel we just can't afford it. Often income doesn't stretch to cover the expenses. It's probably not a great idea usually to go into debt for a vacation; however, some would argue that point. It's certainly not wise to dig a pit of debt so deep that we are buried alive, but some families borrow from their savings now and again to fund unforgettable family experiences. 2. The job requires much of our time. When we do get a few days or a week off for vacation, the yard and the home demand attention. The kids are playing T-ball and soccer and basketball and play in the band and The results? We often wear out several minivans and SUV's running hurry scurry from town to city and state to state, and we fail to invest our lives in travel -- travel simply for the sake of enjoyment. We may be losing out on more than fun. Being busy is not always the best investment of our time.3. Travel and vacation are not always easy. Worthwhile vacations require planning and effort. Sometimes a distant, exotic destination is not the best choice either. Half the battle is in our creativity and attitude! "Travel" does not always mean a trek across the nation or a transatlantic cruise. Travel is to decide on a destination, be it a neighboring county fair or a national shrine, and to enjoy both the journey and the destination. The travel experience may be practically in our own back yard. 4. In the final analysis we have to ask, "Is a travel vacation worth the cost and the effort now, this year? More often than not, the carefully chosen vacation probably will be fun, increase our appreciation for the world we live in, increase family unity, and engrave memories that truly last a lifetime. Travel enriches our lives with meaning, and who can place monetary value on that? Travel snatches us out of our tiny corner in this wonderful world and hurls us into the human family, and there it can perform its magic."That all sounds great!" you say. "But reality is reality. The bills tear holes in our bank account. The home begs a new coat of paint. We have to shell out $100 for our kids' neighborhood party next week. And besides, it is expensive to travel! It costs a small fortune these days to fly to Florida and stay in a nice motel." That is reality. Those are real demands that we encounter in the real world. However, others who do travel may have some answers. Some of those world travelers have learned travel tricks and can share some tips that will empower you to see over your backyard fence. If you dream of swimming in a blue lagoon in the company of curious dolphins or of standing on top of a 14,000 foot peak in the Rocky Mountains savoring the spectacle of hundreds of peaks and the cleanest air you've ever inhaled, then let's join hands, and give substance to your dreams, and vitalize your lives and your closest relationships with travel. Cruise - 7 Perks Of Luxury Cruising - Auto Recovery

Luxury cruising is an experience unto itself, the kind of exceptional vacation that you will always remember. Why is it so exceptional? Read on to find out why we believe a luxury cruise is such a good value and a wonderful experience that everyone can enjoy.1. Affordable combination of sea and land vacation Luxury cruising is a very affordable combination of a sea vacation with a land vacation. You get to experience the fun of being on a cruise ship as well as visit several different port destinations, each with a different set of adventures waiting for you to discover. When you compare the cost of a luxury cruise with comparable costs of the same travel itinerary, accommodations, food and amenities, it is easy to see that the cruise is a very good value.2. Visit several locations, but only unpack once Have you ever gone on a vacation where you stopped at two or three different locations, each time having to unpack your things then re-pack when it was time to move on? When you take a cruise, you only have to unpack once but still get to experience several different locations along the way. The ship is your "home base", always there at the end of the day with your familiar cabin, a fresh change of clothes, a great meal, and more activities to enjoy after you leave port.3. Do as much or as little as you like Luxury cruising allows you the freedom to build the kind of vacation that is just right for you. If you like to be active and adventurous, you can stay busy with shipboard opportunities as well as port excursions and exploration. If something more relaxed is to your liking, you can do that, too, spending long lazy hours by the pool, relaxing on deck, or enjoying a quiet corner in the ship library.4. Take the whole family A common misconception is that luxury cruising is an "adults only" vacation. Most cruise lines welcome families and provide varying levels of accommodations and special programs for cruisers of all ages. Some cruise lines even specialize in families, building the entire ship and cruise itinerary around family needs. Whether you want to spend time together as a family, or turn the kids loose in supervised program while you enjoy some adult time, a family-focused cruise offers something for every member of the family.5. Exceptional service If you have never been on a cruise, it is a bit hard to grasp the exceptional level of service that is found on most cruise ships. From your cabin steward to your waiter, everyone is focused on serving you and making your vacation as enjoyable as possible. The cabin steward will keep your cabin spotlessly clean, often leaving fun towel sculptures and special touches for your amusement, while your waiter will make a point of getting to know your preferences and strive to give you what you want before you even know you want it.6. Meet people from all over A luxury cruise attracts passengers from all over the country and all over the world. You will have the chance to meet people during onboard activities and on shore excursions, but perhaps the most fun is getting to know your seat mates at the dinner table. It is typical to be seated at a table of eight people, with whom you will share conversation, laughs, and wonderful meals throughout the cruise.7. Get away from it all When you take a luxury cruise, it is not so easy to check your e-mail, call into the office, or otherwise keep tabs on what is going on at home. It can be done, of course, but being on a cruise ship is a unique opportunity to leave the rest of the world behind and truly get away from it all. Your only job, while onboard and in the ports of call, is to relax and do exactly what you want to do. Nothing more, nothing less, with no interruptions like phone calls, voice mail or e-mail.Bruce Pickett ACC is an award winning travel & cruise consultant, self taught, experienced, & motivated to help people find cruising value. Your Adventure Awaits On A Cruise Ship

When most of us think of the words cruise ship, we envision the Love Boat or the Titanic. Well, not all the time, but often that's the first thing that comes to mind. Actually, a cruise ship doesn't have to be that big, and many countries have their own cruise ship lines. A cruise ship is also called a luxury ship, but that doesn't mean that only rich people can sail on her. You may not find Gopher or Doc on board, but a cruise ship offers a unique way to travel at a slower pace so that you get to know your fellow passengers and are able to intermingle at various venues provided by cruise ship activity and entertainment directors. Airline or train travel doesn't allow for such pleasures, nor does driving. For anyone who hasn't been on a cruise ship, adventure awaits!A cruise ship is also called a passenger ship and is used for those seeking a pleasure voyage to various destinations around the world, from Tahiti to Rio, to the Canary Islands and Hong Kong. Today, a cruise ship line offers the best in travel comforts and perks. With a cruise ship, the entertainment on board is as important as the ultimate destination, and most cruise ship lines will make sure to schedule exciting events that will entertain various age groups. The very first cruise ship built expressly for the purpose of transporting vacationers from Point A to Point B was called the Prinzessin Victoria Luise. She was built in 1900. So began the age of transatlantic transportation that hit a rough spot after the sinking of the Titanic. Following that accident, Albert Ballin, the manager of Hamburg-America Line, made it a point to send his cruise ship captains across the North Atlantic is the worst winter weather to prove that the ill-fated sinking of the queen of all liners was not the norm, but rather an isolated incident. He succeeded, and other shipping lines followed his example.A cruise ship is equipped to withstand bad weather and is capable of sailing great distances to exotic ports of call or down your country's coastline. One of the most popular cruise ship destinations for world travelers is the Alaskan cruise, which offers delighted passengers sights and sounds that can't be seen anywhere else. There are many different kinds of cruise ship, and some are large, which others are only moderately so. Most come with affordable small to medium sized cabins, and a cruise ticket will generally include all the food and entertainment on board as well as tickets to events or locations listed on the ships port of call sightseeing lists. A cruise ship offers hotel style living, fine dining and even theatrical entertainment all in one place. Some cruise lines offer a cruise ship geared more toward the younger crowd, like Disney, while others offer nothing but exquisite elegance. Which cruise ship you choose will not only depend on your tastes, but your pocket book as well.

Cruises And Cruise Lines - Important Questions And Answers

At first glance, it would seem that someone planning a cruise vacation could simply make a phone call and book a cruise line package. However, after a few minutes, one will come to realize that there are numerous cruise lines, destinations, and packages.Important questions that need to be answered about cruises and cruise lines include -1) Destination - Do you want to go to the Panama Canal, Alaska, Caribbean, South Pacific, South America, Europe, and Mediterranean? Basically, if a cruise line can reach a destination via water, then there is probably a cruise package to fit.2) Food quality and dining experience. Cruise travelers have cited this factor as one of the primary factors in deciding on a cruise.3) Do you have special interests? If you are a bargain shopper, you might want to consider a cruise that travels to destinations with bargain shopping. If you like the sun, you might want to consider cruises going to Hawaii or Mexico. Do you like history? Perhaps the Greece and old world destinations will interest you.4) Would you like to visit many ports or are you interested more in shipboard activities?5) How much can you afford to pay? Different cruise lines offer many different packages and pricing.6) How long can you travel? Cruise lines offer packages that start at weekend excursions all the way to months or more.7) Do you prefer ocean cruises or river cruises? Does the Nile, Amazon, Mississippi, or Danube peak your interest?8) When do you want to go? Depending on the destination, the time of year does matter. Remember that some parts of the world get very hot or very cold certain times of the year.9) What sort of people are you comfortable with? More and more cruise lines are catering to demographics. Some packages offer activities and destinations that may interest the retired tourist. Other cruise lines may cater to the young partying crowd. And yet, other cruise lines wish to attract and entertain the family vacationers. One of the more important choices is the type of cruise lines. Ships vary in style and amenities and can be compared to the range and class of hotels. For example, hotels are commonly rated as a "one star" (typically a basic budget) all the way to "five star" (luxury high class and expensive)Size of Cruise LinesYes, size does matter. Small ships are able to travel to destinations that the big ships cannot. Small ships can be more intimate with small crowds, lines, and activity. However, the big ships are floating resorts. One can find activities and services to pamper and luxuriate without leaving the ship.Below are some of the common terms that describe the various sizes of ships.Megaliner - more than 2,000 passengersSuperliner - between 1,000 to 2,000Midsize - passenger capacity of 400 to 1,000Small Ship - passenger capacity under 400Boutique Ship - passenger capacity under 300 and popular for luxury cruiseA good place to start when investigating the choices among the cruise lines is to request a brochure from each cruise line. It may not be very detailed. However, the brochure will inform the cruise traveler the important facts and information needed to choose a cruise line.I realize that this information on cruises and cruise line is very brief. However, I have tried to present the important questions the beginner and even the advanced cruise traveler should answer if they want to experience a hassle-free and memorable cruise.

Crystal Cruises is the only cruise line, resort ,or hotel to have won this prestigious award each and every year since the award's inception.Thousands of world travelers and subscribers rated cruise lines on cabins, food, service, itineraries/destinations, activities and value. Internet Cruises - Shopping Online

"If you build it, they will come."That advice, which prompted an Iowa farmer in the 1989 movie "Field of Dreams" to plow over his corn field and build a baseball diamond, has become the mantra of many high-tech startups promoting electronic commerce on the Internet. And the cruise travel industry has also embraced this "shop by computer" concept.Indeed the Internet can be a wonderful source of information to help you plan an exciting holiday, obtaining ship and stateroom descriptions, itineraries, tips on sites to see, passport and visa requirements, shore excursion, shopping, weather and local interest information, but is it the right place to book your dream vacation?Cruise lines are investing over US$15 billion to build at least 50 new ships in the first half of this decade in addition to the over 300 vessels already in service. Each of these ships offer different amenities with unique ambiance and often this kind of information can only be understood and communicated by face to face discussions with a cruise expert to avoid turning a terrific vacation into a mediocre experience. There is a common misconception that because something is offered for sale on the Internet, it will be an exceptional or a major saving for the consumer. More often than not however it is the ease of completing a transaction that is the major benefit for certain types of travel.Do not assume that pricing on the Internet will automatically be the lowest. Often local agencies will have agreements with the cruiselines that allow them to offer exceptional "not to be advertised" specials.Sometimes there are "residents specials" which are applicable only to residents of a particular country, state or province. Most cruise lines offer price protection to the consumer should the fare for your category of stateroom be reduced. A good agent will watch for reductions and ensure you receive the adjustment. Using an electronic service may not provide the same protection or make available specific specials applicable to your requirements.Arrangements unique to your vacation such as special dietary requirements, handling disabilities, and providing meet and greet services, may be overlooked booking on-line and there may be no way to get answers your very specific questions. On the other hand booking your frequent flyer points travel directly with the airlines or even obtaining a air ticket can be a simple process with little risk if you are dealing directly with the airline's booking engine. Above all make sure about who you are giving your credit card to.Where are they located, and how long have they been in business? Can you get references? Are the web transactions secure? Is the currency my currency? How will my documents get to me and are there additional charges that have not been itemized? What happens if I do not receive the tickets? Now for the good news! As a research tool, the Internet is second to none. Most cruiselines have sites that provide detailed information on their offerings. Carnival Cruise Lines at www.carnival.com offers comprehensive information on their ships, itineraries and even the shore excursions available for each sailing.Similar sites are available from Princess Cruises at www.princess.com or Royal Caribbean International at www.rccl.com where you can print a custom information brochure in full color if you wish! The official trade organization of the cruise industry is the Cruise Lines International Association (www.cruising.org). They work in partnership with nearly 21,000 affiliated travel agencies throughout North America to ensure the highest caliber of cruise sales expertise and service for cruise vacationers. This is a fun place for exploring what cruising is all about and CLIA provides links to all major cruiselines, frequently asked questions, vacation planning information and even a cruise expert locator to find an Accredited Cruise Counsellor near you.If you would like to create a printed mini-guide to your vacation destination, you may wish to visit www.fodors.com. The creators of the famous travel books allow you to create your own mini-guides to a destination covering transport, lodging, dining, currency, health, and more in a personalized format. The Columbus World Travel Guide (www.wtgonline.com) is a resource often used by travel agents for complete information on almost any destination in the world. This site will give you history, maps, visa and passport requirements, how to get there, public holidays, political structure, useful addresses, accommodation, business profiles, climate, social profiles and much more. There are also links to other very useful areas on the Internet such as Mapquest, Yahoo Weather, Traveller's Health Services, World Tourism Offices, the Government Travel Advisory and Information services as well as links to ship bridge cameras offering live pictures from their vessels.Having both a computer and travel background, I am excited by the potential of the Internet as a comprehensive research tool. My practical side reminds me that there is no such thing as a "free lunch". It is not how much you save but what you get for what you pay!Sid Kaplan has extensive experience in the travel business. He owned and operated a large retail cruise only agency in Canada and his wife has 25 years experience working for major cruise lines. Their website is http://www.cruisevacationsguide.com which offers advice and tips to those look to create memorable cruise vacations.

Living On A Cruise Ship Is Catching On

Well, living on a Cruise Ship is catching on.Quite a few couples are now subscribing to world cruises and it is affecting the Cruise Ship industry. In 2006 the Holland America Line is experiencing a 20 percent increase in the number of cruises longer than 12 days. For 2007, the demand for world cruises for Cunard is so great the company is having two world cruises, including the Queen Mary 2's first voyage around the world, an 80-day journey. Silversea Cruises, a very, very exclusive Cruise Line has just launched a series of voyages of 34 to 123 days and is having its first around-the-world cruise in 2007. And Crystal Cruises Inc. spokeswoman Mimi Weisband said that they saw a record number of bookings for this year's 106-day world cruise. Why is this happening?Nobody likes flying anymore. It is not relaxing, you are stuffed like sardines in a tin can, you have to bring your own lunch, and have to take off your shoes. Now think about cruising. You've got your house with you, wherever you go, just like a turtle. You get taken care of, whatever you need. Medical Care is close by, so are 10 bars and 4 restaurants open 24 hours a day in most cases. You don't have to pack and unpack every day as with regular vacations, you can spend leisurely days playing pingpong and shuffleboard and relaxing with longtime friends. The key selling theme for these long cruises is COMFORT.You can see and do exotic things from 10 AM to 12 PM, go for lunch, and do more exotic things from 2 PM till 7 PM and then have a 10 course supper. After supper there is a free show every night.Perfect lifeRather than sitting in a summer cottage staring at the walls, on a cruise you have your social life built in, with 2000 possible friends. Cruise lines say another key attraction is that now you can visit plenty of far-flung destinations - such as Hawaii and Tahiti- without dealing with airport security and other hassles. The funny thing is that these Cruises are no longer exclusively populated by retired Seniors, but are becoming populated by entrepreneurial 40- and 50-people, who can turn the ship into a virtual, floating office. You can successfully run a business from being on a ship, because of Wireless Internet Access worldwide available on these Cruise Ships.Destinations are also being changed by the Cruise Ship industry; more and more exotic itineraries are being visited, because people like change, and if you have never seen the Pyramids, now is your chance on a 12 day Cruise. The costs of a world cruise are no longer prohibitive, in 2005 a 100 day cruise could be had for $16,000 per person, that is $160 a day for travel, food, guided tours, shows and companionship. Some people do this in their 30's, saying that they want to enjoy this while they can.Others do this after they get a divorce, as a consolation prize to themselves. As the demand for World Cruises increases, at some point in time entrepreneurs are going to buy a Cruise Ship at a reasonable price and are going to turn it into Condominiums.

Various Itineraries For 5-Star Around the World Cruises

Your return voyage across the Atlantic will include stops in other ports of the Caribbean before you disembark in Fort Lauderdale. You can book segments of this type of upscale world cruise if the full length of the cruise involves more time that you have to spend on holiday. You will join the ship in a specific port and disembark in the one of your choosing that matches the amount of time you have available.Explore the sample shore excursions offered to find out exactly what to expect in the various ports of call so that you will be informed about what sights the cruise has planned for you to see. The comfort and luxury of the cruise ships surpasses that of a 5-star hotel in the amount of amenities and world class cuisine that you have at your fingertips. You can dine with the captain on a 5-star world cruise ship, choose your dinner partners and enjoy meeting people from all over the world. These ships are smaller versions of the large cruise ships, which make for a more intimate cruising experience.Relax on the side of the pool, choose a good book from the library to curl up with as you relax on the balcony and enjoy state of the art fitness facilities. Try your luck in the casino, have a drink with friends and take in a Broadway type show along with many other forms of entertainment provided for your enjoyment. This cruise is one that you will surely remember forever and it may even make you want to take another in a future year.

Taking a Cruise -- Things to Do

It seems like everybody these days is setting sail, cruising around the deep blue ocean on ships the size of small cities. Travelers return from their ocean adventures with strange and marvelous tales of grand movie theaters, huge climbing walls, water slides, and mounds of delicious food, but is this the reason why cruises have grown in popularity? What is it, exactly, that makes cruises so appealing to so many people.Perhaps it's the price. Long cruises, especially, can be expensive, and port fees, cruise cancellation insurance, and airfare (if it's not included in the price), not to mention pricey shore excursions, can destroy your vacation budget. Just like with air travel, however, significant discounts can be found online and through travel agents, and when travelers factor in the meals, accommodation, and shipboard entertainment that are included in the fare, cruises can actually be pretty reasonable. There's also less room for the typical nasty surprises that accompany traveling to exotic locations on your own.Unlike land tours, which offer a similar sense of security when traveling, cruises also allow passengers a great deal of personal freedom and the ability to set their own pace. If you don't feel like getting up for breakfast, then you can stay in your cabin and make it down in time for lunch. On a tour, if you miss breakfast, you might have missed the bus for the entire day, and you'll end up stuck in your hotel, while everyone else is seeing the sights. Cruises have a definite relaxation factor that accompanies the fact that you are, essentially, staying in a floating hotel, which is one reason why cruises attract passengers who are celebrating honeymoons, birthdays, anniversaries, and family reunions. The fact that cruises are actually carrying passengers from one port of call to the next with a minimum of fuss or fanfare is another reason for their popularity. Unlike planes, trains, or, God forbid, automobiles, passenger can sleep, eat, exercise, and even party while the ship is transporting them from point A to point B. As mentioned earlier, the pace is slower, but for many, that's a benefit rather than a drawback of cruise travel. Also, once you get to your port of call, you'll be all rested up for duty-free shopping (in the Caribbean, at least) or scuba diving or whatever draws you to exotic locales in the first place.Traveling also entails meeting a lot of new peoplesome of whom are nice and some of whom are not nice. Dealing with nasty flight attendants, shady cab drivers, and grouchy hotel clerks can add a level of stress to travel that detracts from the sense of excitement and adventure that should accompany any vacation. Perhaps it's because everyone's so relaxed or perhaps it's because the staff is brainwashed (or desperate for a generous gratuity), but, in general, fellow travelers and staff on cruise ships seem to be a whole lot happier, nicer, and more accommodating than your average human being you encounter every day. Your fellow cruisers, who come from a variety of backgrounds, are not only happier but also more interesting to be around, and you're actually encouraged and able to socialize on a cruise. But let's be honest. Nothing's more important to you than your stomach. Airlines understand that. It seems like, on some long-haul flights, attendants are walking around every hour with another opportunity to stuff your face. Airline food, however, will never be able to compete with cruise ship food. Food is often the highlight of a cruise experience. Whether it's at a buffet, in a dining room, or in your cabin, the food is delicious, and there's plenty of it. In fact, you might find yourself gaining a few pounds if you're not careful. Luckily, that's what vacation is all about. If you are worried about your waistline, there are plenty of opportunities to exercise and stay fit onboard. Finally, one of the major reasons why cruise travel is growing in popularity is the variety it offers. Over 200 cruise ships float in the world's oceans and rivers today, and that number is growing by the year. Just like with air travel, there are the big namesPrincess, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Carnivaland they each have their own fleet of ships. There are also smaller cruise lines, tailored to a specific region or for a specific purpose. These days, if you do your research, you can find the perfect cruise ship to fit your needs, wants and interests.

How to Find a Cheap World Cruise

It's almost impossible to imagine that it would be possible to find a cheap world cruise, but surprisingly, bargains do exist. True, you won't find those $299 last minute bargains, but then again, a world cruise is a vacation that will last almost three months, if not longer. Even on luxury ships, it's possible to find deals that on a per-day basis rival any vacation available. As with shorter cruises, one of the best ways to book a cheap world cruise is to book in advance. Itineraries for world cruises are commonly set well over a year in advance, and booking early pays off. You may be offered reduced rates or cabin upgrades, specials on airfare and shore excursions, or credit that can be spent on ship. For instance, Regent Seven Seas is rewarding early reservations with promotional 2-for-1 fares, free airfare, and free unlimited shore excursions. Silversea is offering airfare discounts, along with on-board ship credits. Big discounts for advance booking goes a long way to creating a cheap world cruise.Have you cruised before? If so, consider the cruise line you sailed on previously. The cruise line may offer discounts or gifts to travelers that refer new customers to the cruise line; if you have friends that are considering a cruise, why not take advantage of such referral programs to help get your own cheap world cruise? Many cruise lines also offer rewards to repeat customers, or that join their preferred traveler club. These rewards can include discounts, stateroom upgrades, or onboard spending credits. Some cruise lines offer special events or receptions to these preferred travelers, increasing the value you receive for your vacation dollars. Taking advantage of such specials or rewards programs is one way to a cheap world cruise.Don't forget to comparison shop, though! Cruise lines are competitive, and you may find special discounts offered to new customers, as well. As an example, Crystal Cruises has offered a $10,000 savings per couple for world cruise customers that have never cruised on Crystal before, in the form of onboard ship credits. It's worth their trouble to offer a cheap world cruise to gain a new customer.Another route to a cheap cruise is through your accommodations. On all cruises, the size and location of the stateroom have a big impact on the price of the cruise. Smaller cabins and interior cabins will be cheaper. A cabin with just an ocean view will be cheaper than a cabin with a balcony, and cabins on lower decks are usually cheaper than cabins on upper decks. Some traditional advice for finding cheap cruises doesn't apply to world cruises, however. If you're booking a cruise in the Caribbean or the Mediterranean, a low-season cruise could be a bargain, but there is no off-season for world cruises. There is a limited number of world cruises offered each year. Many cruise lines don't offer these long cruises at all. While it's not impossible to get a cheap cruise by booking a last minute cruise, it's not easy or common. This is due in part to the limited number of world cruise berths that are available in the first place. A second issue is that most world cruises are offered in segments, so travelers can book a portion of the cruise instead of taking the entire trip. Wait too long to make reservations and you may find that only part of the trip is available. With a little research and planning, it's possible that your dream world cruise can also be a cheap world cruise.
